If you grew up on Digimon Tamers, the card-swipe D-Ark digivice is probably burned into your memory — a chunky little arsenal that fired when its partner slid a card through the slot. This year that beloved device is getting a full-color comeback as a virtual pet, alongside a fresh take on Bandai Namco's Godzilla crossover line.
The D-Ark, reborn in color
Announced at the DIGIMON CON 2026 live-stream event on 21 March 2026, the "D-Ark -25th COLOR EVOLUTION-" recreates the iconic digivice from the Digimon Tamers anime in honor of its 25th anniversary. It ships in three color variants themed on the series' main trio:
- Takato Matsuki (Takato Matsuda) Color — for the show's red-wearing protagonist
- Jianliang Lee (Henry Wong) Color
- Ruki Makino (Rika Nonaka) Color
According to reporting from several fan outlets and news sites, each unit is priced around 14,300 yen (roughly US$90–95), with a Japan release scheduled for July 2026. Rather than the original's card slot, these anniversary devices trade the swipe for a full-color LCD, a built-in vibration motor for battle feedback, and a USB-C rechargeable battery.
Pre-orders opened through Premium Bandai in April 2026, and Bandai Namco's official channels have promised worldwide launches at a later date.
The Godzilla crossover continues
The same DIGIMON CON broadcast revealed a second line: the Digimon Pendulum COLOR Godzilla Edition. Two variants — a "Digimon-side" color and a "Godzilla-side" color — celebrate the ongoing crossover that began with a 2025 Godzilla Pendulum Color wave.
Both add a set of new Godzilla-themed forms including Black War Greymon G-Invasion Mode, Greymon G-Invasion Mode, Metal Garurumon G-Invasion Mode, and Metal Greymon (Virus) G-Invasion Mode, alongside a roster of roughly 58 evolution options. They're reported to hit Japan in August 2026 at around 7,920 yen (roughly US$50), and to arrive in North America in November 2026, where Premium Bandai lists them at US$65 each — compatible with earlier Pendulum Color and Digital Monster Color units.
What to make of it
For fans of the Tamers era, the D-Ark "COLOR EVOLUTION" is a rare piece of hardware nostalgia — a chance to hold a 25-year-old virtual companion in a modern, rechargeable shell. And for collectors, the Godzilla edition keeps the monster-meets-digital-monster crossover streak alive. It's a heartwarming sign that, two and a half decades later, Bandai Namco still sees a future for its pocket-size pets.
