What it is
Time Stranger is a role-playing game developed by Media.Vision and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, and it's the seventh game in the Story subseries of Digimon titles. In-game, players travel between the parallel Human World and the Digital World — a realm called Iliad — collecting, taming and fighting Digimon along the way. The story centers on the fate of those two worlds, which is why the official copy leans hard on saving them both.
Where and when it launched
The game first released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam) in October 2025. Then came the big push of 2026: it launched for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on July 10, 2026, bringing the full title to Nintendo players for the first time. Bandai Namco's July 2026 announcements also highlighted the Switch 2's options of a higher-resolution Quality Mode or a smoother Performance Mode, and a slate of DLC packs (with the first three landing in July 2026).

The bigger picture
For fans, the notable thing about Time Stranger is how long fans waited for it: it arrived roughly eight years after the previous Story game, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth — Hacker's Memory (which itself launched in Japan in 2017). That makes Time Stranger's arrival a genuine landmark for the Story line, especially now that it's on every current major platform.
