Good news for everyone still wandering the Digital World — Bandai Namco has announced the first major expansion for Digimon Story: Time Stranger, and it's a big one. Titled Digimon Story Time Stranger: A Hero's Eternal Legacy, it was revealed in a press release dated September 3, 2026, and quickly picked up by outlets including Crunchyroll, Nintendo Life, and RPG Site. It's expected to arrive sometime in 2027.
For anyone who hasn't dived into the base game yet: Digimon Story: Time Stranger is the latest entry in the Story subseries of Digimon RPGs, developed by Media.Vision and published by Bandai Namco. Players step into the boots of ADAMAS agents Dan Yuki or Kanan Yuki, thrown back in time to fight the Titans and save both the human world and the Digital World. It launched in October 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, and reached Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on July 10, 2026 — with more than 450 collectible Digimon to fill out your roster. A season pass of three smaller DLC packs (Alternate Dimension, GAKU-RAN, and Anti-ParadoX) has already been rolling out.
A Hero's Eternal Legacy changes things up in a few notable ways. First, it stars a brand-new hero rather than Dan or Kanan Yuki, so expect a fresh perspective on familiar territory. The story picks up three years after the base game's climactic battle between the Agents and the Olympos XII — the conflict that saved both the human world and the Digital World region called Iliad.
The expansion is set largely in the unexplored lands of Iliad, and this version of the region is described as a more open, explorable zone. If you found the base game's maps a little guided, this sounds like a welcome change of pace.
On the roster front, more than 50 new Digimon are joining the cast — Liamon, ShimaUnimon, MoriShellmon, Cockatrimon, and BloomLordmon are on the list, reportedly, with more announced to come.
A Hero's Eternal Legacy is slated for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, with 2027 as the release window. We'll keep an eye on specific dates and features as Bandai Namco shares them, and update this post the moment we know more.
(One friendly reminder: this is an unofficial fan hub for Digimon, not an official Bandai Namco source — anything we report that isn't confirmed by the publisher should be treated the same way we treat it here, as reported news we're tracking closely.)
Until then, build out that roster, clear out those dungeons, and start thinking about who your new hero's first partner should be. And if you're in the mood for more Digimon-adjacent discussion, you can always swing by our sister site at https://tama.fdhcl.com
